Dr. David Friesen was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He attended the University of Alberta, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007.
He proceeded to Chicago, where he completed his Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. His clinical externships included Advanced Care at the University of Kentucky in Lexington; McCormick Vision Source in Austin, Texas; Pediatrics and Low Vision at the Illinois College of Optometry; and Primary Care at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Friesen is passionate about eye care. He strives to provide his patients not only with better vision, but also, a greater understanding of the importance of eye health.
In his free time, Dr. Friesen enjoys playing soccer, hiking, traveling, and of course, cheering on his hometown Oilers.
Dr. Stephanie Luk was born and raised in Vancouver and spent four years in Chicago for optometry school, where she met some incredible friends. She graduated magna cum laude from Illinois College of Optometry, after completing her Bachelors of Science from UBC.
During her fourth year rotations, she gained valuable experience in pediatrics, contact lenses, and low vision.
Dr. Luk takes pride in giving individual care and education to each patient, because she knows the importance of vision and healthy eyes.
She is fluent in Cantonese and can speak some Mandarin.
Throughout the year, Dr. Luk loves hiking and snowboarding in our beautiful province. She is an avid sports fan, and enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and ice hockey.
Dr. Jaskirn Gill was born and raised in Surrey, BC. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Simon Fraser University. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in 2014.
Dr. Gill completed a private practice internship in Lantana, Florida where he gained valuable experience in contact lens and pediatrics. He also completed a rotation at the Lake City VAMC in Florida.
Dr. Gill’s areas of interest include pediatrics, contact lens, and primary care.
He is also fluent in Punjabi.
When Dr. Gill is not in the clinic, he enjoys playing soccer and hockey. He is an avid fan of Arsenal FC and the Vancouver Canucks.
Connor may look young but he’s been a leader on our team for a long time. You might say he’s mature beyond his years.
Bo, or “Captain” as he likes to be called, is a born leader and is almost as fast as Connor.
Elias is in his second year at our office and looks to improve on last year’s performance.
Dr. Amy Luu received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009 and 2013, respectively, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List. At convocation, Dr. Luu received the Prize for Academic Excellence in Ocular Pharmacology and the Abbott Medical Optics General Proficiency Award. In 2012, she completed her ocular disease internship at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center where she developed an interest in ocular pathology and pharmacology. Dr. Luu enjoys pediatric eye exams and is passionate about myopia control. She has helped slow down the progression of near-sightedness in many children.
Dr. Luu is fluent in English and Chinese, and she likes learning new languages. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her son and her dog for walks to the park, as well as reading, baking, and travelling.
